Bayern: youthful frontline ready for a tougher examination

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich are still in the early stages of their preseason preparations, having started less than two weeks ago but already completing three warm-up fixtures. The German champions suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat against Wehen, responded with a spectacular 15-0 victory over amateur side Rotach-Egern, and most recently edged past Jeju United 2-1 in South Korea.

However, Bayern are currently operating without several key figures, meaning the squad is not yet at full strength. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano are expected to return later, while Alphonso Davies, Lennart Karl, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Ismael Saibari were not included in the Asian tour squad.

This has opened the door for Bayern’s younger players, with Felipe Chavez, Bastian Asommo, Maicon Cardoso, and Tim Binder taking on greater attacking responsibility. Aston Villa: final preparations before the competitive season begins

Aston Villa entered preseason earlier than Bayern and have already completed five friendly matches. Unai Emery’s team began strongly, recording convincing wins over Walsall (5-0), the All-Stars (3-1), and Pathum (3-1), but faced more difficulties against stronger opponents, falling to Porto (1-2) and Real Sociedad (2-4).

Emery has continued to rotate his squad throughout the summer, but the Hong Kong fixture is expected to feature a more settled lineup as Villa look to sharpen their preparations before the new campaign.

The squad has lost some important pieces, including Youri Tielemans, who moved to Manchester United, and Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea. New signing Joan Manzambi is also unavailable due to injury. Defensive consistency remains a concern, with Villa conceding eight goals across their last four friendlies after keeping a clean sheet against Walsall.
